I had a vision of painting by the sea and preferably in a hot
climate, so what better than at my second home in Timpi
Russi, Sicily. I challenged myself to create sixty paintings in
six weeks whilst on holiday. So I did, and the outcome was
very interesting, especially painting in 40 degree heat whilst
the mosquitoes drove me insane.
I was inspired by the nature and the beautiful views from my
villa, which overlooks the Mediterranean sea. I went to a lot of
local beaches to get sand, some really small pebbles and
seaweed, to combine them with my paint. When you put
them all together, they surprisingly work. The paintings
come alive and most importantly they have a little piece of
Sicily embedded in them. I am looking forward to seeing what
they look like once they have been resined.
